The Marty Monteith Podcast

Colonizers or Illegal Immigrants?

Marty Monteith Season 2 Episode 1

Were the early settlers of the New World nothing more than Illegal Immigrants themselves as some on the Political Left claim?

An audiriMEDIA Presentation

Hello everyone and welcome back to the podcast.

In this episode, I will be sharing content from another source, which I believe is worth repeating.

It comes from @seanDaniel and was inspired by @tatumtwo7137

This presentation shuts down the left’s bogus claim that America’s founders were “illegal immigrants.” It explains that there were no U.S. laws to break, and demonstrates how colonization was not at all the same thing as immigration because…

1.  There was in fact no sovereign nation state in exist at the time into which the early colonists could immigrate. And…

2.  There were no existing immigration laws for the colonists to violate.

The Left pushes a false equivalence between colonization and immigration as a way to excuse illegal immigration today — but history says otherwise.

What does the term “ILLEGAL actually mean?

Well, an ILLEGAL immigrant is someone who enters or remains in a country in violation of that country’s immigration laws.

You cannot be considered an ILLEGAL immigrant in a country that does not exist yet.

There were no US boarders no federal laws, nor any visa system in the 1600s.

Colonists were not violating US law because the United States did not yet exist as a nation state.

The term ILLEGAL cannot be applied to a situation that existed before laws were written.

Colonization does NOT equal Immigration.

Colonization is the taking of land thorough War or Settlement, or Treaty, whereas Immigration is LEGALLY entering an existing sovereign nation state that has laws and borders.

Early settlers like the Pilgrims at Plymouth or the those at Jamestown didn’t immigrate to the United Sates because the United States did not yet exist! They settled, in what was to become a colony of Great Brittain. And did so under legal charter, by the way.

One may debate the legitimacy of colonization but one cannot refer to it as immigration. And righteous or not, colonization was considered legal at the time.

Once again, it bears repeating: It is patently false to refer to the early colonists as ILLEGAL immigrants as there were no immigration laws for them to violate! Visas did not even exist until 1924!

Furthermore, if we are to refer to ILLEGAL immigrants as UNDOCUMENTED immigrants, we may as well refer to DRUG Dealers as UNDOCUMENTED pharmacists.

So, why do people on the left continually push the false narrative that equates colonization with ILLEGAL immigration?

1.  Because they want to legitimize ILLEGAL immigration by linking it to the origins of the United States. And…

2.  Because they want to make ILLEGAL immigration seem (at worst), harmless, and (at best), downright patriotic!

But most sinister of all, leftists in general, and democrats in particular are gaming the system. Congressional representation is based on raw population figures regardless how many people in a given congressional district are legal US citizens.

Bottom line:

Modern ILLEGALS violate immigration laws. Early settlers in what later became the United States did not.

There is, therefore, no moral equivalence between colonization and ILLEGAL immigration.

Which brings me to another point that appears to have been entirely overlooked in this debate. And that, is the issue of MORALITY.

For decades, the left has screamed it from the rooftops that MORALITY cannot be legislated. The left has ceaselessly harangued us on the right that no one has the right to impose his or her MORALITY on another.

Yet, everywhere we turn, the left decries the MORALITY of allowing foreigners to violate immigration LAW.

In fact, the MORAL argument is the ONLY argument they can make, given they cannot offer a single LEGAL justification for violating LAW.

So, now the Left, encourages the violation of law to impose it’s MORALITY upon the entire country ! How ironic is that?!
